Over the last few months, a football player decided to make a statement about our society, our mutual society. I won't even mention the athlete's name, you know who it is, and the statement was nothing short of . . . having a seat.
Our hero, as many have called him, decided to let everyone know that he was making a statement by . . . sitting down.
The outrage in this athlete's heart was so great, he decided to take a seat during the performance of the National Anthem, at a sporting event.
It has been a tradition of respect for people to stand for Adults when they enter a room, you meet someone, the President appears, the reciting of the Pledge Allegiance, singing of the National Anthem, etc.
I, Colin, have had issues with my nation, The United States of America, but I never dissed my fellow citizens, I never embarrassed myself - check that, I was a wee lad once, I never insulted the institutions of this great land because I am a part of this land and I know that for this land, this country to continue, traditions keep it going. I will continue in those traditions: respect for me fellow citizens, its institutions, law and order, morality and a few other things.
Colin, you and I don't agree on what you did, specifically: you taking a seat during the singing of our national anthem. I am glad that someone went over to you and suggested you take a knee instead of remaining on your lazy bottom. Doesn't matter, you blew it because no one cared what you were trying to bring attention to . . . that Black Lives Matter.
So, let's return to your "actions" of your deep, held beliefs. You decided to let the rest of us know that you are unhappy, angry with what is happening in America. Understood, Colin. What now? What are you going to do now since you have let us know that Black people are dying in America?
I invite you, Colin, to join me in going to Congress to call for investigations into these crimes against our fellow citizens. How about, you joining me in demonstrating against these evil actions against our brothers and sisters?
I've done it and I will probably walk, demonstrate for something that I believe in. I will not buy from institutions that do bad things, I will not spend time with people that actively work against me. How about you go out to the front lines, Colin? How about Ferguson, Cleveland, Chicago? When are you going to stand up with your fellow brothers and sisters and DO something? Wait . . . you already did: you took a seat during our National Anthem.
Shailene Woodley was arrested recently, in North Dakota while demonstrating, taking a STAND against a pipeline being constructed. Size matters buddy, and she is only 5' 8". How tall are you? I really can't tell because you are sitting . . . both during a song and during the game.
1-9. Wow. You can't do it on the field and you can't do it off of it neither. Thanks for bringing to light and for doing something.
Loser.
Shailene Woodley: My Hero.
